Sadiq Khan was today accused of fiddling his housing figures after he was found to have double-counted hundreds of housing starts last year.
The brand-new data, which was obtained by the GLA Conservatives, revealed that 1,256 of the 12,526 affordable homes that City Hall started building last year were restarts from previous years.
By correcting Khan's double-counting, the Mayor missed his minimum target to start building 12,500 affordable homes in 2017/18.
It was originally thought that Khan had double-counted only 500 homes during 2017/18, but the real figure was much larger, with over 10 percent of all affordable homes being restarts.
Andrew Boff AM, GLA Conservative Housing Spokesman, commented: "Make no mistake, any credibility that the Mayor once had when it comes to housing is now in tatters.
"In a shameless attempt to trick Londoners into believing that he has met his own targets, Sadiq Khan has been found guilty once again of cooking the books. The fact that the Mayor double-counted over 10 percent of his affordable housing starts will come as a slap in the face to all those Londoners who dream of owning their own home.
"The Mayor went to great lengths to brag about reaching his housing target last year. Now we know that this was all smoke and mirrors, and in reality, Khan was way off hitting even his minimum target. This complete incompetence tells you all you need to know about this Mayor."
